The Chorus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen
The Chorus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was formerly the CUHK-Shenzhen Student Chorus (established in 2014) and the CUHK-Shenzhen Staff Chorus (established in 2015). In 2019, the two choruses were officially merged into a university-level chorus. Since its establishment, adhering to the concept of innovation and diversification, it has participayed in nearly 50 concerts and large-scale performances at home and abroad, rehearsed a large number of classic chorus repertories, and collaborated with numerous outstanding musicians and musical groups?such as DAI Yuqiang, Warren MOK, WEI Song, GAO Song, WU Bixia, Anson PING, LIU Yan, Rose LIU, CUI Rui, LIANG Shanshan, Tiago NACARATO, Eliseu SILVA, the Hong Kong Strings, the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, the Guangdong Chinese Orchestra, the Zhuhai Chinese Orchestra and more.
In addition, to disseminating traditional Chinese culture, the Chorus has continuously explored and created paths for aesthetic education. In May 2024, the Chorus collaborated with the CUHK-Shenzhen Affiliated Schools in a choral concert, deepening artistic exchanges and mutual learning, integrating resources to carry out aesthetic education, and promoting high-quality development in aesthetic education. In the future, the Chorus will continue to make its contributions. Also, the Chorus keeps aiming at being in line with international music standards. In July 2024, the Chorus was invited to the CONVIMUS International Music Festival in Porto, to perform in collaboration with the renowned Portuguese folk singer Tiago NACARATO and the Portuguese Orquestra?Sinfónica Amasing Orchestra. This brought Chinese music to the international stage while learning about world music to enhance musical accomplishment. In August 2025, the Chorus was invited by the Zhuhai Chinese Orchestra to take part in its 2025 Music Season?Dream of the Red Chamber(1987 TV Series) Suite Concert, presenting an innovative fusion of choral music and Chinese orchestral performance, and actively promoting the exchange and mutual learning of ethnic music cultures at home and abroad.
Moreover, the Chorus has achieved remarkable results in various artistic competitions. In 2023, it won the first prize in the Non-professional Choral Vocal Music Category of the Third Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area University Students Art Festival, the first prize in the Vocal Category (Group A) in the Guangdong Province the 7th Edition College Student Art Exhibition Activities, and the second prize in the Art Performance Category (Group A) in the 7th National University Students Art Exhibition and Performance Activity. In 2023, it was invited to participate in the recording of Youku's?E-POP UNITYprogramme, and cooperated the song?Nameless?with music producer and singer Hamshor TANG. In 2025, it was invited by Guangdong TV to participate in the recording of?Shenzhen Sky Concert, performing alongside renowned artists including music producer and singer Hamshor TANG, singers LI Zhennin, WU Dailin, Greater Bay Area Young Artist LI Siya, and the Hong Kong boy band Hey Brother, jointly presenting?China in the Lights?and?Welcome to Shenzhen.
After nearly nine years of development, the Chorus is capable of interpreting different musical styles with wide influence. It is committed to adding a rich artistic atmosphere to the campus, further promoting the development of aesthetic education with distinctive features, and holding multiple choral concerts to bring the beauty of music and the unique harmonious sound of chorus to all corners of the campus. Meanwhile, it has participated in numerous off-campus performances, with its footprint spanning the Hong Kong City Hall, Hong Kong Youth Square, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Shenzhen Concert Hall, Shenzhen Poly Theatre, Shenzhen Grand Theatre, Chengdu City Concert Hall, Longgang Cultural Centre, Guangming Culture & Arts Center, Sea World Culture & Arts Center Mountain View Theater, Zhuhai Grand Theatre, and more. In the future, the Chorus will continue to write a new chapter with its singing and passion for music.

Chorus Conductor | Miette HE

Conductor and Head of the CUHK-Shenzhen Chorus, Instructor of the A Cappella Group, Head of the University Art Groups; Musical Instructor of BYAcapella; Music Consultant for the Lychee Chorus; Co-founder and Music Director of the CUBE Chorus; Guest Artist at the Convimus International Music Festival in Porto and Advisor for the CUHK-Shenzhen EMBA Phoenix Choir. She was under the guidance of Mdm. Jiang Nan, the Artistic Director of Golden Voice Chorus; currently working at the University Arts Centre, CUHK-Shenzhen. Since 2012, Miette has been dedicated to the choral arts, with a mission of?“treasuring every passion, blending it into chords, and transforming it into moving voices of the heart.”
She focuses on introducing global culture and world music during chorus training, leading chorus members to explore music from various backgrounds and languages, such as German, Italian, French, English, Chinese (including Chinese dialects), Japanese, Latin, Spanish, and African languages. Emphasising cultural integration and promoting Chinese culture, she brings Chinese music to international stages. At the Convimus International Music Festival in Porto, she led the choir in performing dialect works such as?Ajelu (Don’t Be Afraid), Chinese opera pieces like?Guang Liang (Silver Lining), and Chinese ethnic songs such as The Mongolians, providing international chorus members and audiences with insights into Chinese music and culture.
She prioritises developing chorus members’?perceptiveness and creativity, encouraging them to collaboratively design stage performances. Notable works include?All That’s Desired Shall Be Fulfilled. In March 2024, during the 10th Anniversary Alumni Day of CUHK-Shenzhen, she innovated the concept of?“choral storytelling,”?integrating play, stage design, multimedia visuals, and choral music. Through innovative design, the stage reimagines university memories, transforming fleeting moments of youth into tangible artistic landscapes.
She emphasises the diversity and power of music, using choral works of various styles and periods to enhance chorus members’?comprehensive abilities. Under her leadership, the CUHK-Shenzhen Chorus won the first prize in the Vocal Category (Group A) in the Guangdong Province the 7th Edition College Student Art Exhibition Activities. Additionally, she led the CUBE Chorus to win the top spot in the Silver Award category at the inaugural Hong Kong International Choral Festival. Miette has led the chorus to collaborate with numerous musicians and ensembles, including LIU Yan, Anson PING, Wu Bixia, and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, and has been involved in the recomposition of collaboration pieces.
In 2024, she was invited to be the choral director for the?“Echo of Light”?concert for the game?Punishing: Gray Raven, which gained over 500,000 views online.?In 2025, she was invited to be the choral director for?Atlas of Tomorrow, featured in?Honor of Kings’?online anniversary gala; the performance hit one million views.

Host | JIANG Jin

JIANG Jin is a master’s student in Drama, Film and Television at Nanchang University, focusing on Broadcasting and Presenting. She currently interns with the Art Groups of the UAC at CUHK-Shenzhen. She holds the Radio and TV Announcer and Host Qualification Certificate (Grade A) and the Professional Certificate for Ceremony Hosts. She was invited to perform at Henan Satellite TV’s July 1st Gala, reciting “The Internationale”, “The People Are the Country”, and “Ode to China” alongside renowned hosts HAI Xia and XU Tao. She has also worked as an on-camera reporter and newscaster for a local TV station, and has hosted many campus and public events. Her awards include the National First Prize in the College Student Reader category of the 27th National University Student New Media Creativity Competition, the Hundred-Likes Award in the “National Youth Reading Party History” Activity, and the Excellence Award in the First National Poetry Recitation Competition of “Voices of a Prosperous China”.

The “Spring Blossoms” Music Festival?at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is thoughtfully curated by the University Arts Centre, bringing together artistic forces from both China and abroad. The festival features a diverse range of performances, including choir, a cappella, orchestral, chamber music, percussion, and ethnic music. Throughout the festival, there will also be music lectures, academic communication, artistic coaching, and charity performances. The aim of the festival is to integrate existing campus music projects and external music resources, promote cross-disciplinary communication and academic guidance, and to create an open, shared, and global-minded platform for artistic communication.
